The San Francisco 49ers have been dealing with some kicker uncertainty the last few seasons, and the struggles of Jake Moody have led to closer games and losses over the last two years.
After a rough Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season, the 49ers cut ties with Moody and signed Eddy Pineiro to be their new kicker. His first few weeks with the 49ers went great, as he hit all seven of his field goals, missing one extra point, which ironically was his first kick.
He's been great for the 49ers since that initial miss, and after a very strong October, the National Football League announced Pineiro as the NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for October. This award for Pineiro proves the 49ers have finally found a kicker.
The 49ers have finally found a long-term kicker in Eddy Pineiro
Pineiro, in his first full month with the 49ers, went a perfect 10-for-10 on field goals and hit all six of his PATs in October. While the 49ers went just 2-2 in October, Pineiro's efforts didn't go unnoticed.
Since coming to San Francisco, Pineiro hasn't missed a field goal. He's a perfect 17 for 17, including multiple kicks longer than 50 yards.
To begin October, Pineiro went a perfect four-for-four on field goals in a 26-23 overtime win over the division rival Los Angeles Rams. Pineiro hit a 37-yarder to end the first half, and he hit a 20-yarder and a 59-yarder in the fourth quarter. In overtime, his walk-off field goal was a 46-yarder.

Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pineiro hit field goals of 52, 54, 42, and 29 yards in the 30-19 loss. In the 20-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons, Pineiro hit a 55-yarder in the second quarter and a 43-yarder in the third to give the 49ers the 10-point win.
While the 49ers offense couldn't move the ball against the Houston Texans' vaunted defense, he still added one extra point to his October total that earned him the NFC Special Teams Player of the Month.
The 49ers have found their kicker of the future in Pineiro, as he's been perfect since coming to the 49ers after Week 1 in place of Moody.
