NFL insider tabs Seahawks as top team for potential deadline splash

3 hours ago 1

The Seattle Seahawks had one of the most resounding wins in Week 9, dominating the Washington Commanders from start to finish. At 6-2, tied atop the NFC West, the Seahawks are likely heading towards a playoff berth.

But, with Sam Darnold, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and the defense playing at such elite levels, there's reason to wonder how aggressive the Seahawks could get at the deadline. Mike Macdonald has the Seahawks in position to make a splash.

And according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Seahawks are one of two teams he believes could make a stunning deadline splash at the 2025 NFL trade deadline.

Seahawks tabbed as team to watch for potential trade deadline splash

"We'll see if any deals get done," Schultz reports, "but the two teams I'm watching today for a potential 'holy crap' trade are the #Seahawks and #Broncos."

Both the Seahawks and the Denver Broncos have a lot of young players on reasonable deals, and are both 6-2 or better as the deadline approaches. While Denver is 7-2 and sitting atop the AFC West, the Seahawks' 6-2 record is just as impressive.

The Seattle defense has been elite this season, and while they might not need a lot of help, adding depth in the secondary and along the defensive line, as both spots have dealt with injuries this season.

On the offensive side of the ball, while it might not draw a lot of attention, adding a young star offensive lineman could be a huge boost to the one area of the roster with some question marks. A new right guard or center could be in play.

So too could be running back or wide receiver. The running game hasn't lived up to expectations, with Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet struggling for the Seattle run game.

At wide receiver, Smith-Njigba has been the best in the NFL through nine weeks, but they could use some extra depth with Cooper Kupp dealing with an injury, and the depth is a major concern. Tory Horton looks great, but adding another option would help the offense.

The Seahawks have plenty of reason to be aggressive at the deadline, and Schultz named them as one of the top teams that could make a deadline splash by the deadline.
