The Seattle Seahawks acquired Rashid Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday in exchange for 2026 fourth and fifth-round picks. The trade reunites the wideout with Seattle offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, who helped develop him into a breakout star during their time together in New Orleans.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport broke the news on X.

"The newest member of the #Seahawks: Rashid Shaheed, who is back with OC Klint Kubiak," Rapoport tweeted.

"Just kill me man... ugh," another fan wrote. "Rashid Shaheed realizing he doesn't have to play for the Saints anymore," a fan commented.

Here are more fan reactions.

"Seahawks play action is going to be insane. Will open up the run game," one fan tweeted. "Seattle gonna be a tough out," another fan commented. "Super Bowl bound," a fan said.

Kubiak worked with Shaheed during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Under his aggressive downfield passing scheme, Shaheed broke out as one of the NFL's most explosive deep threats. He earned first-team All-Pro honors and a Pro Bowl nomination as a punt returner in 2023.

What does Rashid Shaheed bring to the Seahawks?

Despite New Orleans' 1-8 record, Rashid Shaheed was a bright spot with 44 receptions for a career-high 499 yards and two touchdowns through nine games. His ability to stretch the field vertically made him an ideal fit for Klint Kubiak's system, which the Seattle Seahawks would also love to exploit.

The team has been thriving under Kubiak's offensive scheme in his first season coordinating in Seattle, with Sam Darnold posting career-best numbers. The Seahawks have relied heavily on Jaxon Smith-Njigba as their primary deep threat, with Cooper Kupp and Tory Horton filling complementary roles.

Adding Shaheed provides Darnold with another proven vertical weapon who already knows Kubiak's playbook.

The move also serves well for the Saints. They capitalized on an expiring asset rather than losing him for nothing in free agency. Meanwhile, Seattle is making a run for the Super Bowl and went all in with this trade.
