NFL insider Ari Meirov calls out Bengals defense as Michael Wilson runs open TD after "horrific tackling" vs. Cardinals

Ari Meirov criticized Cincinnati's defense on Sunday. The NFL insider watched the Bengals miss multiple chances to stop Arizona's Michael Wilson from reaching the end zone.

The statement came while Cincinnati hosted Arizona at Paycor Stadium. Wilson caught a pass from Jacoby Brissett and turned it into a 38-yard score as Bengals defenders failed to bring him down.

"Some horrific tackling in Cincinnati today," Meirov tweeted.

Wilson's trip to the end zone brought the Cardinals within six points after the kick went through. The Stanford product entered Sunday second on his team with 68 receptions and 818 yards through 16 games. Arizona selected him in the third round in 2023.

Fox's Daryl Johnston had plenty to say about what he witnessed on the field.

"I don't know what we're doing here inside the 10-yard line as a Cincinnati defense," Johnston said during the broadcast. "Al Golden's gonna be furious when he watches this on film. This is not good defense at all. Wrap him up, wrap him up, drive him out of bounds."

Cincinnati still held a 23-7 advantage at halftime despite the lapse. Joe Burrow connected on 16 of his 20 throws for 176 yards and a score before the break. The Bengals outgained Arizona 231 yards to 91 in the opening half.

Ja'Marr Chase found the end zone twice in the first 30 minutes, snapping a touchdown drought that stretched back to Oct. 16 against Pittsburgh. The wide receiver grabbed three balls for 47 yards before intermission.

Running back Chase Brown racked up 107 combined yards with 67 on the ground and 40 through the air. Evan McPherson connected from 57 yards out after Cincinnati's offense stalled.
