Myles Garrett committed to the Cleveland Browns in the offseason, and he’s not going anywhere, at least not this season.
This news comes from NFL insider Adam Schefter, who has dismissed any speculation that the former Defensive Player of the Year could be on the trade block before the November 4 deadline. On X, Schefter made it crystal clear where the Browns stand on potentially trading their prized defensive player:
“For those wondering if the Browns would consider trading Myles Garrett by Tuesday’s deadline, the answer is, in the words of one source, “No chance.”•

Schefter went on to say that this source told him:

“People have a better chance of winning the lottery.”That puts to bed any notion that the four-time First-team All-Pro star might be on the move to another team this season. A trade involving Garrett would likely have happened at some point this past offseason. That’s because he requested a trade in hopes of moving to a winning team.
He changed his mind, though, in March, signing a four-year extension worth $160 million with $123.5 million guaranteed. Garrett has been a beast on defense throughout his career, and that hasn’t changed so far in 2025. He currently leads the league with 10 sacks, tied with the New York Giants’ Brian Burns. He’s picked it up after expressing frustration earlier in the year about being sackless.
In their Week 8 defeat to the New England Patriots, Garrett set a Browns franchise record for the most sacks in a single game, with 5. The Browns are fourth in the NFL regarding team sacks with 24 and third in total yards allowed per game at 276.9.
Browns might still trade Garrett at some point
It seems like Garett may be stuck in Cleveland for this season, but that doesn’t mean he’ll have to stick around for the remainder of his contract.
Word has it that the Browns may be open to moving him sooner rather than later. ESPN analyst Dan Graziano believes they might trade him when the season ends. Part of the reason is their new stadium project, for which they secured $600 million in state funding.
“The Browns trading Garrett isn’t inconceivable, especially if that’s what he wants,” says Graziano.Graziano adds that trading Garrett before the deadline would cost the franchise $41 million. The asking price for him is at least 2 first-round picks.
The Browns are 2-6 and seemingly destined to miss the playoffs once again.
