The No. 7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish take on the No. 8 Ohio State Buckeyes on January 20 in the College Football Playoff national title game.
Notre Dame's run has been incredible as the Irish have wins over No. 10 Indiana, No. 2 Georgia and No. 6 Penn State. Head coach Marcus Freeman has been on a stunning run despite an ugly loss in September to Northern Illinois in South Bend.
Suddenly, Notre Dame is one game away from its first title since the Lou Holtz days.
Ahead of the game, former Chicago Bears linebacker and NFL legend Brian Urlacher had a strong take as his son, Kennedy, is part of the Notre Dame roster, per Tyler Horka.
"He's the face of college football right now...It's amazing how far he's come. His ascent to the top has been quick," Urlacher said. "My son looks up to him so much."
The former Bears LB said it was the "right decision" for his son to choose Notre Dame. Kennedy Urlacher was a three-star prospect in the Class of 2024 and chose Notre Dame over TCU, Miami, Penn State, Kansas State and Illinois, per 247Sports.
Kennedy Urlacher has just 12 tackles with a fumble recovery in a limited stint this season, although he is just a freshman and should get more run as his career continues.
Nonetheless, Brian Urlacher is more than thrilled with his son's decision to play for Notre Dame and Marcus Freeman.
