NFL analyst states Broncos still have interest in trading for A.J. Brown

Heading into the NFL free-agent signing period, the player who arguably had more headlines than anyone else was a player who wasn't even a free agent... A.J. Brown. The Philadelphia Eagles' wide receiver has been the subject of trade rumors all offseason, and a move could still happen.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has consistently said he's not really interested in moving Brown and could have a high price tag on him if he does. Still, teams around the league are sniffing around to see what they might be able to pull off.

The Denver Broncos are a team that has been connected to Brown this offseason. With a true No. 1 wide receiver still a glaring need, many fans have made that connection, despite the Broncos not being a team mentioned on Brown's reported "wish list"

However, NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger made an appearance on the DNVR Sports Broncos podcast on Wednesday and stated that the Broncos have interest in trading for Brown.

Brian Baldinger told us there is at least some interest in the Broncos and Eagles on an A.J. Brown trade:

“I know that there’s interest there on both sides. Maybe Tepid, but some interest. At least enough to inquire to what the asking price is.” pic.twitter.com/ZU2rVX7ccF

"I'd be interested to see if the price drops on A.J. Brown, if that's still a possibility. I know that there's interest there on both sides. Like, maybe tepid, but some interest, at least enough to inquire to what the asking price is. Howie Roseman hasn't really budged off of what he wants, but, ya know, maybe as time goes on here through the day, maybe there's renewed interest in that", said Baldinger.

Could Broncos pull off A.J. Brown trade after standing pat in free agency?

The Broncos have yet to sign a single player from another team in free agency, leaving a huge chunk of the fanbase completely flabbergasted. That makes it difficult to see the team splurging for Brown, but it would be a pleasant shock for Broncos Country if it happened.

Brown would give the Broncos a big-bodied option in the passing game who can run all of the routes, has a great pair of hands and can threaten a defense at every level of the field. Adding a player like that would allow the Broncos to have a more proper wide receiver room as Courtland Sutton could settle into a No. 2 role and the young players behind him (Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims Jr., Pat Bryant) could continue to grow with far less pressure on them.

What the Eagles would want in return for him would be the sticking point. If it's still more than the first and third-round pick that the New England Patriots were rumored to have offered for him last week, that's still a difficult sell and it's hard to see this current front office signing off on that.
