Newark Liberty International Airport suddenly shut down Wednesday evening due to a reported “aircraft emergency” — grounding all flights.
The major airport issued a travel advisory, writing in a statement on X that all flight operations were “temporarily suspended while an aircraft is removed from the taxiway due to an earlier incident.”

The New Jersey travel hub is expected to be closed from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET, according to the National Airspace System Status.
