New York Yankees urged to pair Aaron Judge with Bryce Harper for World Baseball Classic reason

1 hour ago 2

The New York Yankees never signed him when they had the chance, but many would still be more than content with Bryce Harper ending up in pinstripes. There were some faint rumors about him possibly being traded this offseason, though they’ve died down recently.

Despite that, while there’s currently no indication that the Philadelphia Phillies are shopping the MVP, the concept of pairing Harper with Aaron Judge in the Bronx is very exciting to think about, and we’ll get a chance to see it during the WBC.

Thomas Carannante of Yanks Go Yard floated the dream scenario while discussing Harper’s excitement about representing Team USA alongside Judge and others.

“And while Harper's comments on the WBC were pretty standard and expected, he did mention Aaron Judge first before listing a bunch of other players he was excited to be teammates with,” Carannante wrote. “Maybe (Yankees general manager) Brian Cashman can get a preview of those two hitting back-to-back on Team USA and then give Dombrowski a call to see if Harper's looking to get out of town?”

A Judge-Harper duo would arguably be the best in baseball, as both of them do things offensively that aren’t seen by many around this league.

Of course, the chances are slim to none.

Harper is the face of the Phillies franchise, and poaching him away would require a massive trade package, without factoring in the Phillies not taking the deal.

For now, it remains a fun thought, but who knows what can come if the Phillies struggle in the next year or so.
