New York Mets’ Kodai Senga in trade rumors entering season after brutal showing last year

The New York Mets had a very interesting season last year, in a bad way, and a lot of that was due to Kodai Senga.

There are and were questions, and Mike Axisa of CBS Sports believes Senga could see his name pop up in more rumors over the next few months. If it happens, he named the San Francisco Giants as a landing spot.

President of baseball operations David Stearns made several changes while improving the team this winter, and Senga was reportedly one of the players who could've been moved.

"Senga was on the trade block much of the offseason as Mets POBO David Stearns remade his squad. No team took the plunge, perhaps because Senga has struggled to stay healthy the last two years and was so bad late last season that he agreed to go to Triple-A.

"The Mets never bothered to call him back up even as their pitching sent their season off the rails. You don't have to look back far to see the last time Senga was an excellent pitcher though (1.39 ERA in his first 14 starts in 2025), and $14 million salaries the next two years are downright reasonable given the price of pitching these days," he wrote.

Late in the season, Senga’s struggles became more noticeable. At one point, the Mets even optioned him to the minors as they searched for answers on the mound.

Still, Senga has shown us that he can be a legit arm at the highest level, posting a 2.98 ERA in 29 games during the 2023 campaign.

The Mets need pitching, so if Senga throws well, he'll be in Queens. If he doesn't, he should be traded.
