The Dallas Cowboys have kept tabs on several defensive players in the early stages of the 2026 offseason.
Unfortunately for Dallas, they have yet to hit the jackpot, specifically on a well-rounded linebacker who’s produced at a high level for multiple seasons.
Recently, the Cowboys have been linked to a former Baltimore Ravens All-Pro linebacker. According to Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Nick Harris, the Cowboys have made their final decision on potentially acquiring the 26-year-old veteran.
“The trade market has also been explored by the Cowboys, as they spent days looking over Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen,” Harris wrote Friday. “After a down year in 2025, Pittsburgh and Queen are expected to part ways this offseason, and a trade seems imminent for the former first-round pick.”
“Dallas had some intrigue in the building, but the team officially pulled out of its preliminary interest Thursday afternoon.”
Although the Steelers don’t appear over the moon about the idea of trading Queen after his 120-tackle, one-sack, and one forced fumble campaign with the Steelers last season, it isn’t good news for Cowboys fans that the franchise isn’t all-in on prying him away from Pittsburgh anytime soon.
Queen could have helped Dallas shore up their run defense and pass rush in 2026-27, but Harris’ report suggests the Cowboys must look elsewhere to address those issues.
