The New York Mets received encouraging news regarding star shortstop Francisco Lindor as he continues working his way back from offseason surgery.
Lindor has been improving through his recovery process, undergoing a procedure, and the latest update suggests he’s only getting better.
Lindor remains one of the most important players on the Mets roster. Because of that, the organization has been cautious about his recovery, ensuring he’s good to go before returning to game action.
The next step in that process will involve Lindor facing live pitching, which is often one of the most important updates for hitters returning from injury. Live batting practice allows players to get their timing down against velocity and movement, something that can’t be done without doing so.
Manager Carlos Mendoza shared the latest update on Lindor’s progress.
“Manager Carlos Mendoza said Friday that Lindor will take live batting practice for the first time since the SS had surgery on Feb. 11. He added that Lindor will face LHP A.J. Minter during the live BP session later in the day,” SNY’s Colin Martin wrote.
For the Mets, having Lindor healthy will be important, as the team looks to remain competitive in the National League this season.
