New Orleans Saints schedule 2025: Dates & times for all 17 games, strength of schedule and predictions

4 hours ago 1

It's fair to say the Saints are in the middle of a rebuild.

New Orleans went 5-12 in 2024, which wasn't at the very bottom of the NFL but also certainly wasn't enough to compete for a playoff spot. The team enters 2025 with a long list of questions — Kellen Moore, the former Eagles offensive coordinator, is now at the helm.

It's unclear whether it will be second-round rookie Tyler Shough or someone else throwing passes for New Orleans this season, as the Saints look for some building blocks for their next era. Offensively, there are some weapons that could help the team compete in the NFC South, from Alvin Kamara to Chris Olave, who struggled with injuries in 2024. In the offseason, the Saints brought back rising defensive end Chase Young and drafted offensive lineman Kelvin Banks Jr., two pieces they hope can lead them back to the postseason.

However, New Orleans hasn't been to the playoffs since 2020, and the team isn't trending in the right direction yet. Five wins last year were the Saints' fewest since 2005 when they won three games. The upcoming season will likely wind up being about the team showing growth on both sides of the ball and assessing which young pieces will be mainstays on the roster.

While the playoffs are likely to be out of reach for New Orleans in 2025, there's still plenty to look forward to as the Saints' schedule is unveiled.

Here is a complete breakdown of the Saints' 2025 schedule, including dates, start times, and analysis for all 17 games.

Saints strength of schedule

Since the 2024 season concluded, the Saints have known their opponents for the 2025 season due to the formulaic process the NFL uses involving divisions. New Orleans' strength of schedule for 2025 is purely based on the results of the 2024 season — meaning that while it is a strong indication of how hard a team's schedule will be, it won't be perfect. Some teams will improve or get worse from last year.

The Saints have the second-easiest strength of schedule for 2025. Their opponents had a combined .419 winning percentage last season, making their schedule projected to be much easier compared to other NFL squads.

Toughest tests: The Buccaneers paced the NFC South last season, and they've consistently owned one of the NFC's best rosters in recent years. The home-and-away series vs. Tampa Bay will likely challenge the Saints.

While their 2024 records may not show it, the Jets, Patriots, and 49ers could all easily take leaps this season toward contention. New Orleans faces all of those teams at home; New York added a proven quarterback in Justin Fields, New England made strong acquisitions on both sides of the ball, and San Francisco had an injury-plagued 2024 despite some elite talent.

Biggest breaks: Playing in the NFC South, currently one of the weaker divisions in the NFL, only benefits the Saints. If New Orleans can manage to assert itself as a playoff contender, two matchups against the Panthers shouldn't prove too difficult.

The Giants and Titans were also among the league's worst teams last season. While both added new starting quarterbacks (Russell Wilson in New York, Cam Ward in Tennessee), there's a chance that neither is all that great once again in 2025. The Saints draw the Giants at home and the Titans on the road.

Saints record prediction

  • Over/under win total: 6.5, per BetMGM

Bottom line: There are enough veteran pieces in place for the Saints to win some games in 2025, but expectations should not be high. On paper, New Orleans' roster simply doesn't stack up to Tampa Bay or Atlanta very well within the division. The Saints also don't yet have a straightforward answer at quarterback.

Best-case scenario is that either Shough or a veteran has a strong season at quarterback, helping lead New Orleans' offense, while the defense shows some improvements after being one of the league's worst in 2024. With a lighter schedule, that could allow the Saints to push for seven or eight wins — but even then, playoff contention would be unlikely.

2025 figures to be a year of transition for New Orleans as Moore implements his philosophies and schemes and the team identifies its top young talent. With the group they have right now, there's no guarantee the Saints can improve on their five-win total in 2024. Chances are, by the 2026 offseason, New Orleans will rank in the top 10 in the NFL Draft once again, focused on its rebuild.

Record prediction: 4-13
