Even though it has been more than 17 years since GTA 4's release, its bustling fanbase has continued to make unique mods for it. From fixing most of its graphical issues to adding entirely new map expansions and missions, a lot has been added to it. Most recently, a group of modders created a mod that entirely changes vehicle license plates in GTA 4.

Here are all the details about the newly dropped GTA 4 LibertyCityPlates mod.

Dynamic license plate mod releases for GTA 4

On December 16, 2025, a new GTA 4 mod dropped, named LibertyCityPlates. This mod was developed by Shvab, CP, and Ash_735, and was uploaded to the popular Nexus Mods website.

According to the modder, this was a unique third-party feature that dynamically changes license plates for every single car in the game. This means that every car will have a unique license plate, replacing the traditional license plates in the vanilla version.

Every automobile will now appear even more realistic without the need for numerous textures, unlike older license plate mods that add plate textures to each car's .wtd container.

By tweaking the .sco scripts, players will also be able to modify license plates on their cars. This is thanks to the mod's versatile license plate management. ScriptHook and other third-party scripting engines can also provide this feature. This gives players countless opportunities to design their own missions in which vehicles have distinctive license plates (such as a Comet with BRUC1E plates), hence enhancing gameplay variety.

In addition to license plates for the Alderney area of the map, this mod contains license plates for particular vehicle categories, such as ambulances, taxis, police, etc.
