Sean McVay's LA Rams suffered a 38-37 loss in overtime to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 16 on Thursday night. However, there was some controversy in the fourth quarter when the Seahawks scored a touchdown to make it 30-28 and attempted a two-point conversion, which appeared to fail after quarterback Sam Darnold’s pass fell incomplete. After a review, officials determined that the play was a backwards pass, deflected by LA linebacker Jared Verse into the Rams’ end zone, that was picked up by Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet for two points.
Nonetheless, Rams coach McVay was left puzzled at the referees' decision to overturn the play and award Seattle a successful two-point conversion.

McVay also said he didn't get a clear explanation of the situation from the referees.
"Didn't get a clear explanation of everything that went on just because of some of the timing of it," McVay said. 'I've never seen anything or never been a part of anything like that. And I've grown up around this game. "I'm not making excuses. We don't do that. I don't believe in that. It doesn't move us forward, but we do want clarity and an understanding of the things that we can do to minimize that when we rejected the 2-point conversion."Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford was also puzzled by the controversial decision that tied the contest in regulation time. After the game, Stafford said he didn’t understand how Seattle's ball was still live after it was declared a lateral, and then bounced forward into the end zone.
The Rams QB then suggested that a fumble can’t be advanced on a two-point conversion or inside of 2 minutes.
