3 hours ago 1

The road to Oklahoma City is underway.

The 2025 Women's College World Series is now just days away, with 64 teams entering the NCAA Tournament on May 16 with title chances alive. By the time the action at Devon Park begins, that field will be trimmed to just eight teams.

There's already been some shocking twists in the early tournament action. Liberty knocked off the No. 1 overall seed, Texas A&M, in the regional round, making the Aggies the first top seed to not reach the super regionals since the format began in 2005. The SEC has also dominated the pool of contenders, sending 14 teams to the tournament, a new record for one conference.

NCAA softball super regionals bracket

Here's a look at the 16 squads that reached the second round of the bracket, plus their matchups in the super regionals. All start times are listed in Eastern Time.

No. 5 Florida State vs. No. 12 Texas Tech

From a .353 team batting average to a 2.23 ERA as a pitching staff, Florida State is one of the most balanced teams in the tournament. Coming off regional wins over Robert Morris, South Florida, and Auburn, though, the Seminoles will face plenty of challenges in Texas Tech, which ranks second in the nation with a 1.84 ERA and has shut out its opponents on 24 occasions. NiJaree Canady can be thanked for most of the dominant performances, totaling a 0.92 ERA over 38 appearances in 2025.

The Longhorns come in led by a dominant offense, with Mia Scott (.442 average) and Reese Atwood (84 RBIs) among key pieces in a lineup that ranks second in the country in batting average. Texas also comes in hot, having won its regional games by a combined score of 35-6. Meanwhile, Clemson also went 3-0 in regionals, including an extra-inning victory over Northwestern.

No. 3 Florida vs. Georgia

The Gators are the second-ranked team alive in the NCAA Tournament and had no issues in regionals, taking all three games by run-rule. Among their key pieces are Taylor Shumaker, who ranks near the NCAA lead with 83 RBIs, and Jocelyn Erickson. As Florida seeks its first title since 2015, it takes on Georgia next, which owns plenty of experience in its third straight super regionals.

  • Game 1: Friday, May 23 | 11 a.m. | ESPN2, Fubo
  • Game 2: Saturday, May 24 | 11 a.m.
  • Game 3 (if necessary): Sunday, May 25 | TBD

No. 8 South Carolina vs. No. 9 UCLA

South Carolina has gone 43-15 this season, most recently sweeping its regional games, including two shutouts. Meanwhile, UCLA ranks second in the country with 438 RBIs, with the duo of Megan Grant (25 home runs) and Jordan Woolery (82 RBIs) being a significant threat for opposing pitchers. Like many teams at this point, the Bruins are hot, having run-ruled all three of their regional games.

  • Game 2: Saturday, May 24 | 1 p.m.
  • Game 3 (if necessary): Sunday, May 25 | TBD

No. 2 Oklahoma vs. No. 15 Alabama

The four-time defending NCAA champions are back for more, the highest-ranked remaining team in the tournament following Texas A&M's upset loss in the first round. From a lineup that has hit 110 home runs this season, third-most in the nation, to a pitching staff led by Sam Landry (2.00 ERA), the Sooners are looking to make it five consecutive years of glory. Alabama, 40-21 in 2025, will have its hands full with a powerhouse SEC foe.

  • Game 1: Friday, May 23 | 5 p.m. | ESPN2, Fubo
  • Game 2: Saturday, May 24 | 3 p.m.
  • Game 3 (if necessary): Sunday, May 25 | TBD

No. 4 Arkansas vs. Ole Miss

Arkansas may boast the best individual hitter in the super regionals in Bri Ellis, a senior who has hit a blazing .457 this season with 26 home runs, good for third in the NCAA. After going 3-0 in regionals, the Razorbacks will now line up against Ole Miss, which hit 11 home runs in the previous round and defeated Arizona in an elimination matchup.

  • Game 1: Friday, May 23 | 8 p.m. | ESPNU, Fubo
  • Game 2: Saturday, May 24 | 9 p.m.
  • Game 3 (if necessary): Sunday, May 25 | TBD

No. 7 Tennessee vs. Nebraska

This should be an elite pitching vs. hitting matchup. Tennessee's staff leads the nation in ERA (1.73) and strikeouts per seven innings (8.63) behind ace Karlyn Pickens, while Nebraska's offense ranks third in batting average, hitting .356 powered by Jordyn Bahl, also a highly successful pitcher, and Ava Kuszak. The Cornhuskers have also mashed the ball, racking up 106 homers this season. Both teams should get a true test in this series.

  • Game 1: Friday, May 23 | 7 p.m. | ESPN2, Fubo
  • Game 2: Saturday, May 24 | 5 p.m.
  • Game 3 (if necessary): Sunday, May 25 | TBD

No. 16 Oregon vs. Liberty

Unranked Liberty has momentum on its side here, coming off a stunning upset in the regional round by taking down Texas A&M and advancing to its first-ever super regionals. However, the Flames will have another significant challenge in the Ducks, who have hit .350 as a team (sixth in NCAA), racked up 166 stolen bases (third in NCAA), and scored 466 runs (second in NCAA).

  • Game 1: Friday, May 23 | 10 p.m. | ESPNU, Fubo
  • Game 2: Saturday, May 24 | 7 p.m.
