After Oklahoma City Thunder star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was crowned the NBA’s 2025 MVP on Wednesday, his teammates showed up to the celebration blinged out in matching Rolex watches, gifts from SGA himself as a thank-you for helping him shine.
Gilgeous-Alexander, who edged out fellow finalists Nikola Jokić of the Denver Nuggets and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, didn’t just take home the league’s highest individual honor, he made sure his squad shared in the moment with each teammate receiving a Rolex as part of the celebration.
During a news conference yesterday, the team displayed their new hardware in photos posted to Instagram.
According to Watch Chest, the price of a Rolex can vary widely, with some that “cost as much as a car, while another might be more in the ballpark of a nice vacation.”
While it’s unknown what model his teammates received, SGA is known to wear a Rolex Day-Date, which retails for around $47,500.
With his first MVP title under his belt, SGA is now in line to make history off the court too. According to ESPN's Bobby Marks, he's eligible to sign a record-breaking five-year, $380 million deal—the largest contract in NBA history. But he’ll have to wait until the 2026 offseason to ink it.
Last season, Gilgeous-Alexander finished as the MVP runner-up behind Nikola Jokić, who earned his third league title. Fittingly, the Serbian sensation has a generous streak of his own, gifting Rolex watches to his Serbian national teammates after they brought home a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympic Games.
