Thursday brings about three more games on the NBA Playoff docket, and all of them carry weight.
You have the Pistons and Clippers trying to keep home court advantage after splitting on the road, while the Grizzlies are in virtual win-mode as they try to stay alive vs OKC.
We’ve built our own drama by adding our favorite prop picks in each game, beginning in LA, where Nikola Jokic might have one reliable (though unlikely) scoring option.
NBA Player Prop Picks for April 24
Russell Westbrook Over 11.5 points vs Clippers (-115 at Bet365)
Westbrook is the only bench player bringing anything to the Nuggets’ lineup, as Denver is going with an 8-man rotation, along with Peyton Watson and Jalen Pickett.
Denver’s bench is such a minus that Westbrook has been a plus (if that makes any sense), averaging 14.5 points, albeit on a rough 35.7% shooting from the floor.
The Nuggets need all the points they can get outside of what Nikola Jokic provides and sets up, and right now, Westbrook is one of the non-Nikola Nuggets who can generate offense.
He’s averaging 14 shots a game during the series, and LA will happily live with Westbrook taking uncontested shots, as long as they’re not dunks.
Jalen Williams Over 4.5 assists vs Grizzlies (-125 at Bet365)
Jalen Williams is one of the big reasons OKC is crushing Memphis so far in their series, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander not even close to his MVP-level production.
Williams just keeps the engine moving, averaging 22 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists while shooting 57.1% from the field.
He’s got a makeable 4.5 assist line, one that he’s crossed in both games this series. I don’t think SGA slumps much longer, with Game 3 a great breakout game in the making.
As Gilgeous-Alexander goes more into attack mode, look for Williams to slide into facilitator more, and crack that assist line, possibly before halftime.
Karl-Anthony Towns Over 21.5 points (-125 at Bet365)
This one is a shout out to the New York Knicks coaching staff, who know that Jalen Brunson going 1-on-1 vs the Pistons on every possession is just not going to cut it.
In the process of Brunson averaging 27 shots a game over the first two games of this series, you’ve got Karl-Anthony Towns, an ideal mismatch weapon, averaging just 12.5 field goals per game.
He took just 11 shots and scored 10 points in Game 2’s loss, and New York has not even remotely explored KAT getting into the post and going to work.
Brunson is still option one for New York, but Towns has to be seriously worked into the plans, as he’s too talented not to be running as a supercharged sidekick to JB.
He’s also topped his 21.5 scoring line in eight of the last 10 regular season games against the Pistons, missing the other two by a single free throw each.
