The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday night in Green Bay. At this rate, the Tennessee Titans are essentially locked in and are expected to draft quarterback Cam Ward at No. 1 overall.
After that, everything remains unclear. The Cleveland Browns are at No. 2 but have been receiving trade calls on the pick. With Penn State EDGE Abdul Carter and Colorado two-way sensation Travis Hunter likely available, plenty of teams are interested in moving up.
Well, a new team has jumped into the conversation hours before the NFL Draft kicks off.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network was discussing Hunter, and the Jacksonville Jaguars is the team he mentioned as a possible trade-up candidate.
"If they (Jaguars) stick at 5 I would expect an offensive player, they have an offensive head coach," Rapoport said. "But what if they don't? At least in the realm of conversation is the Jacksonville Jaguars going from 5 to 2... But what if the Jaguars go from 5 to 2 and trade up for him? It would cost a lot and it would be a big, bright shiny object in Jacksonville."
Rapoport also posted on X earlier that the Jaguars are "poised to explore a bold move" in the draft, so there is certainly some traction here.
Do the Jaguars give up assets to acquire Hunter, the Heisman Trophy winner? It would certainly be a bold move for new head coach Liam Coen as the Jaguars begin a brand new era of football.
