NBA insider gives update on Giannis Antetokounmpo's relationship with Bucks

Saturday night, NBA insider Chris Haynes gave key intel on the timeline of when we can expect a decision to be made by Giannis Antetokounmpo on his future.

When it surfaced that Giannis stated he was open to leaving the Bucks for the first time in his career, social media went nuts.

We rarely see a player this young, potentially on the open trade market with no recent injuries and playing like a top-five player in the NBA.

When should we expect an update?

Chris Haynes stated that the Bucks and Giannis will have an important meeting next week about where Giannis and the Bucks stand moving forward.

This should give us some answers, as we will either hear that the Greek Freak requests a trade or that he is aligned with Milwaukee's direction and will be happy to return.

Giannis just came off a year where he was one of three players to be nominated for MVP.

Antetokounmpo averaged 30.4 PPG, 11.9 RPG, 6.5 APG, 1.2 BPG and 60.1 FG%.

Giannis and the Bucks have only made it out of the first round of the playoffs in one out of the last four postseasons since winning the NBA Finals in 2021.

He was hurt in part of these series, but for a team that was so dominant just a few years ago, they have struggled, even as the favorites in certain series, to come out on top.

If Giannis does request a trade, we should expect to see one of the biggest trades in NBA history, as the haul that Milwaukee would get back would have to match the production Giannis provides. Very few players in the league on their own can match that value.

There have already been rumors of teams ready to make strong offers for Giannis should he become available, which would be a very interesting time in the NBA to keep an eye on.

At the end of the day, any team looking to add Giannis to their roster is automatically an upper-tier contender next year. That's how impactful the former two-time MVP is.
