The Chicago White Sox seem to have gotten the steal of the offseason, signing Munetaka Murakami to a $34 million two-year deal.
The Japanese slugger is off to an incredible start to the season, and he's already hit 10 homers, second most in the Major Leagues.
As Sarah Langs pointed out on Twitter/x, Murakami has hit a home run in five straight games, which made some MLB rookie and White Sox franchise history.

"5-game HR streak ties the longest by an MLB rookie, done 12x previously, including once by another White Sox rookie - 1983 Ron Kittle (@EliasSports)," Langs posted. "Also ties the White Sox franchise record for longest such streak, done 7x previously by 6 players."
Murakami's ability to hit for power was one of the calling cards of his game before coming to Major League Baseball. But there were concerns about his ability to make contact.

He's completely dispelled any such worries, as he's hit five home runs in five straight games, the most by a rookie in MLB history and tied for the most by a White Sox hitter.
All the superstar White Sox rookie has to do is hit a home run against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday, April 23, and he could set a record for most games straight hitting a home run in MLB rookie history, and franchise history for the White Sox.
He's off to an incredible start this season, and just one more homer in his next game could make some even more incredible history to further cement him as the AL Rookie of the Year favorite.
