WWE is set to enter a new year in a few weeks, and the company will kickstart the road to the Royal Rumble. Meanwhile, Vince Russo stated that there's a reason why Chris Jericho won't return to the company for a final run under Triple H's creative regime.
Following his last appearance for All Elite Wrestling in April 2025, rumors and speculation have suggested that Chris Jericho may return to the Stamford-based promotion under Triple H's creative regime for a final/retirement tour as a performer.
Speaking on Behind The Turnbuckle Studios' The Coach and Bro Show, Vince Russo believes that the 6-time WWE World Champion won't return to the company based on their recent booking of John Cena in his retirement tour. Russo stated the only reason Jericho could consider a return is with some creative control as a performer to book himself properly on his way out.
"I don't even know if that will be enough. I'm telling you, if [Chris] Jericho's watching like us, it's got to be that creative control. He can't let Triple H do that to him on his way out. I don't think all the money in the world would be worth it to Chris. Chris doesn't need the money; he has his legacy. Anybody that sees what just happened, if you're going to put your last couple of years in Triple H's hands, I don't see Jericho doing it. I just don't," Russo said. When can Chris Jericho return to WWE for a final run?
Earlier this year, rumors suggested that Chris Jericho would return to the Stamford-based promotion following a six-plus-year run in All Elite Wrestling, and Y2J's contract expires sometime before the end of 2025. As the months passed by, there were more rumors surrounding The Lionheart's future in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
If the reported time is true, the 55-year-old WWE legend could be in negotiations with both wrestling companies. As for his on-screen appearance, it won't take long for Chris Jericho to appear on AEW television if he decides to stay. Meanwhile, the multi-time WWE World Champion could make his return at the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia if he returns to the promotion.
