Two California college athletics directors were caught on video getting into a tussle on the sands of a Lake Tahoe beach.
In a clip posted to Instagram, Madera Community College athletic director Jesse White can be seen holding down Fresno City College athletic director Derrick Johnson while screaming in his face.
“What you gonna do?” White is heard saying. “I’ll f—k your a— up.”
Bystanders attempted to intervene as the men kept tangling, with White eventually releasing Johnson and pushing him to the ground. Johnson then tried to collect a bag before White swung and knocked him to the ground.
A man identifying himself as amember law enforcement and other bystanders continued to step in as the pair are seen stumbling with each other until the video cuts out.
The incident unfolded last week at Zephyr Cove, on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe, according to the Fresno Bee. The clip had more than 865,000 views on Instagram as of Thursday morning.
The State Center Community College District, which includes the two schools, is investigating the fight.
“We are aware of the incident and are investigating in accordance with the District’s board policies and administrative regulations,” a SCCD spokesperson told GVWire.
The pair worked together at Fresno City College. White used to coach men’s and women’s track and field and cross-country there, according to his Field Level account. Both men were in the area for the California Community College Athletic Association conference, GVWire reported.
Johnson and White’s teams routinely compete against each other as their schools are housed within the same college district.
Johnson is a former Florida Marlins draftee who has extensive experience as an athletic director, with stints at New Jersey’s Middlesex County College and North Carolina’s Elizabeth City State University.
Before that, he served as athletic director for Riverside City College, guiding 12 of his athletic teams to postseason play.
White recently joined Madera Community College as athletic director after three years at Fresno City College.
The California Post reached out to the two men and their respective colleges, along with the State Center Community College District.
