The Chicago White Sox are looking to make the postseason this year for the first time in a while, after years of sitting near the bottom of the league.
With the MLB trade deadline approaching, a sign that the White Sox might be buyers this season is not just their record, but the updates from MLB insiders as the August 3 trade deadline nears.
MLB.com's Mark Feinsand shared another trade rumor that should have White Sox fans excited, as he would not be surprised if the White Sox traded for a "starter or two" at this year's deadline.
White Sox trade rumor reveals a 'starter or two' wouldn't be a surprise
"... but if there's an opportunity to acquire players under control for another year or two, there's no reason for them not to do that," Feinsand writes. "Adding a starter or two (think of guys like Seth Lugo, Michael Wacha, Reid Detmers, etc.) would not be a surprise at all."
The White Sox adding at the MLB trade deadline this season would already be a noteworthy development for the team after years of acting as sellers.
But, not only might the White Sox buy, but Feinsand wouldn't be surprised if they added multiple starting pitchers at this year's deadline.
The White Sox are more likely to target controllable starting pitching options, like Michael Wacha, Seth Lugo, and Reid Detmers, instead of rentals like Robbie Ray, Tarik Skubal, or Freddy Peralta.

If they could somehow get even just one of those controllable starters, the White Sox would be in a whole lot better place as a postseason contender this season.
Davis Martin is good, but the rest of the rotation is a bit shaky. Add a controllable starter to the mix, one who's good and can help the team compete right away, and the White Sox might be more than simple contenders.
With this rumor indicating the White Sox adding at least one controllable starter wouldn't be a surprise, it's looking like the trade deadline could be a very exciting one for the White Sox fan base this summer.
