The undrafted free agent signings are beginning to roll in following an action-packed 2026 NBA Draft highlighted by the Washington Wizards’ decision to select AJ Dybantsa with the No. 1 overall pick.
On Thursday, the Golden State Warriors made a fascinating perimeter-oriented signing, bringing a 25-year-old NCAA Tournament hero who averaged 20.7 points per game as a senior, on board to help Stephen Curry.
“Wisconsin point guard Nick Boyd signed with the Golden State Warriors as an undrafted free agent on Thursday,” Badger 247Sports' Payne Blazevich reported.
“Boyd was projected as a fringe second-round selection in this year's NBA Draft, but he ultimately fell outside of the top 60 picks. With a chance to evaluate his options following Round 2, the veteran signed with one of the most accomplished organizations in the league.”
What Blazevich failed to mention was that Boyd made one of the biggest plays of his career during the 2023 NCAA Tournament, converting a layup late in FAU’s Round of 64 battle against Memphis to help the Owls survive and advance.
Boyd and the Owls went on to reach the Final Four that season, and the smooth 6-foot-3 guard’s career only got better from there. Boyd spent one additional season with FAU before enjoying successful stints with San Diego State and Wisconsin.
The Garnerville, New York native contributed 20.7 points and 4.3 assists with the Badgers this past season, shooting 48.0% from the field and 36.5% from three (which earned him second-team All-Big Ten honors).
Boyd’s stable perimeter shooting and high-IQ playmaking as an older combo guard could make him a solid fit alongside Curry in due time.
