MLB insider predicts Justin Verlander will sign with Detroit Tigers to ensure future plans

Justin Verlander has made it clear that he will not be retiring this season and would like to pitch again for his age-43 season. Verlander's market is unclear, but a reunion with the Detroit Tigers would be an interesting decision. The San Francisco Giants may not be willing to make him an offer to return.

The Tigers are certainly going to look to add this offseason, and one of their positions of need is depth starting pitching. Could the future Hall of Famer return to where it all started? One MLB insider believes so, and also believes that it may be the end for Verlander.

Justin Verlander's contract outlook

In a recent predictions piece by The Athletic's Jim Bowden, Verlander is predicted to sign a one-year, $12 million deal, and here is what else he predicted:

"Best team fits: Tigers (so he can retire as a Tiger), Giants"

"His best month of the season was September, when he made five starts for the Giants, posting a 2.08 ERA and allowing two earned runs or fewer in four of his five starts. He made 29 starts in total and threw 152 innings with a 3.85 ERA."

Verlander pitched his first 13 seasons with Detroit, and won a Rookie of the Year, CY Young, and was a six-time All-Star with the organization. He had a 3.49 ERA in 380 starts with the organization.

It would be one of the best storylines in MLB next season if Verlander signs with the Tigers and announces his retirement before the season.
