Mitch Johnson is disappointed with how the Spurs blew a 29-point lead in Game 4

After the first half of Game 4 between the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks, it looked like the series would be all tied up at 2-2 after the game. The Knicks had different plans because they came back from a 29-point deficit to win the game and take a 3-1 series lead.

It is a rough result for the Spurs, as they showed their inexperience yet again. Both the players and head coach Mitch Johnson made some silly mistakes, which now puts them at a massive disadvantage as they go home for Game 5.

Mitch Johnson is clearly disappointed about the Spurs' Game 4 collapse

As the head coach of a young team, Johnson has a tough job. He is also not the most experienced head coach, but they are in the NBA Finals and are competing at the highest level. Unfortunately, the lack of experience has been an issue for this Spurs team.

They have tried to deny it because they have been superb in their first postseason run with this core and coaching staff. However, they are making some silly mistakes that first-timers often make.

With Victor Wembanyama's silly pass in Game 2 and De'Aaron Fox's layup attempt in Game 4, the Spurs have made a lot of mistakes. However, those big mistakes should not overshadow their bad approach to games when they have a big lead.

They kept on shooting threes when that dried up in the third quarter of Game 4. The Spurs had a historic first half with their three-point shooting, but they had to maintain the lead, and they failed to do so.

"To put as much good work into that first half as we did and get the lead that we had and not finish the job, it's disappointing to say the least," Johnson said in his press conference while the Knicks fans are heard celebrating in the background.

Now, the Spurs have to lick their wounds as they head back home to San Antonio. Their backs are truly against the wall now, and they need to win three consecutive games if they want to win this championship.
