Mitch Johnson cannot believe that Fox and Castle were not in the All-Star conversation

The San Antonio Spurs have been the standout team of the 2025-26 season. After finishing 13th in the previous campaign, they are now the second-best team in the Western Conference, behind only the Oklahoma City Thunder.

It is an impressive run for the Spurs, as they are much improved. With the improvements brought by a healthy Victor Wembanyama, they have an MVP candidate to lead the charge. However, they do have other players who also deserve the spotlight.

Johnson believes his guards deserve All-Star hype

The Spurs have been superb this season, especially after their turnaround. They are one of the few teams that have beaten the Thunder multiple times. Wembanyama is the primary reason behind their success, but they have a deeper team than most people realize.

The guards are proof of this because De'Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle have been fantastic. They are not alone, though, as rookie guard Dylan Harper is also a superbly talented player.

When it comes to All-Star conversations, Wembanyama was the only player to receive the nod. Considering other teams in a similar position have multiple All-Stars, Johnson has wondered why his guards did not receive much hype.

"I do think it's really interesting that De'Aaron Fox and Steph Castle have not been named All-Stars. I'll answer that question even if it wasn't asked. Several teams have multiple All-Stars, and we play good against the top teams," Johnson said before the Spurs' game against the Lakers on Tuesday.

"The only way that I can think that we aren't deserving of having multiple All-Stars must mean that a lot of people have Victor Wembanyama as one of the frontrunners for the MVP."

Johnson does bring up a good point because many teams around the league have more than one All-Star. Considering Wembanyama is a deserving All-Star, the Spurs can still argue that their other players also deserve the hype.

They might not have over one All-Star, but the Spurs know who they are. As long as Fox and Castle play well, they won't be too bothered about being snubbed.
