Minnesota United needs a new goalkeeper.
And it looks like they're working a trade with fellow MLS club Charlotte FC to make it happen.
The Athletic's Tom Bogert reported the news on Tuesday night:
"Minnesota United is nearing a deal to acquire goalkeeper Drake Callender from Charlotte FC, per sources. Callender, 28, won trophies with Inter Miami before being traded to Charlotte. Obviously a starting GK in this league... heads to Minnesota to be new starter."
Not a bad move at all, if it gets across the finish line.
Minnesota needs a new goalie because its past starter, Dayne St. Clair, left.
St. Clair is also 28, and he signed with Inter Miami to play for the defending champions. St. Clair was a free agent, so Minnesota knew all along it might lose him.
They likely had various plans in the works in case St. Clair left, and about a week after he signed with Miami, Minnesota might have his replacement.
The trade still has to get completed, but Bogert wouldn't have this report unless it seemed likely to happen.
It's certainly a potentially crucial move. If Minnesota can replace one stable goalkeeper with another, it'll go a long way toward having a solid 2026 season.
