Giannis Antetokounmpo’s wife, Mariah Riddlesprigger, made an emotional statement about Milwaukee. This is a peculiar time for the Bucks, as it was reported a few weeks ago that Giannis and his agent are discussing his future, whether that's in Milwaukee or outside it.

Antetokounmpo is one of the biggest stars in the NBA. So, news of his uncertain future in Milwaukee has led to many discussions about his next destination. However, Antetokounmpo’s wife’s statement from Friday was well received by Bucks fans.

She was asked about her and the NBA forward’s charitable efforts in Milwaukee. Riddlesprigger answered, clearing up what the city means to her and Antetokounmpo.

“I think it’s easy because Milwaukee is our home,” she said. “Our kids were born here, and they were raised here. Me and Giannis have both grown up from young adults to actual adults here. Giving back to a community that has given us so much throughout the years.”

Antetokounmpo’s wife permanently moved to Greece this summer along with the couple’s four children. This is another move that has contributed to the discourse surrounding the Bucks star’s future.

Fans believe that, despite his wife’s comments, it is yet to be seen whether Antetokounmpo will finish the 2025-26 season with Milwaukee. The team's poor results this season won't help its case with the two-time MVP.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is expected to return on New Year’s Eve

Giannis Antetokounmpo has not played while mulling over his future with the franchise. The forward last suited up on Dec. 3 against the Detroit Pistons.

He only played three minutes that game after suffering a calf injury during the opening quarter. Coach Doc Rivers said that he expects his star player to take four weeks to recover. So, Giannis Antetokounmpo could return for the Bucks’ New Year's Eve matchup against the Washington Wizards.

He has only played 17 games this season but has been stellar when active, averaging 28.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game, shooting 63.9%.

Milwaukee (11-17) has suffered in his absence, going 1-4 since his injury. The Bucks are in 11th place in the Eastern Conference. The team will return to the court on Sunday to face the Minnesota Timberwolves.
