Mike Vrabel didn't mince words about a player the New England Patriots cut recently.
That player is edge rusher Darrell Taylor, who was cut loose from the team's practice squad on Friday, just nine days after he was initially inked by New England.
On Friday, Vrabel was asked about how Taylor was acclimating with the team, and he dropped the news that the Patriots had released the veteran defensive end, along with a brutally honest answer about how things went.
"Uhhhh. Yeah. We released Darrell Taylor. We’ll put that out here at 4:00. So, not very well," Vrabel said.
Making it look worse for Taylor, the Patriots released him despite having a key injury along the edge with Harold Landry, who has been ruled out for the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos due to a knee injury.
Before signing with the Patriots, Taylor was released by the Houston Texans, who just so happened to be New England's opponent in the divisional round.
It's likely the Pats at least tried to glean some information from Taylor about his former team, although New England didn't need to know much with C.J. Stroud throwing the game away any chance he had.
Taylor was once a productive edge rusher, tallying 21.5 sacks over his first three seasons in the NFL.
But things have gone off the rails for him the past two seasons, and especially in 2025, when he played in just four games with Houston and didn't record a sack.
Safe to say, Taylor's career is on thin ice and we need not look any further than Vrabel's comment to know that.
