Mike Tyson goes viral for awkward Shohei Ohtani moment

1 hour ago 2

Mike Tyson, Jake Paul and DJ Khaled walked onto the ESPYs stage together. Something interesting was bound to happen.

Turns out, it was the legendary boxer Tyson who provided one of the most awkward, head-scratching moments of the night.

They were presenting the award for best single-game performance, and the winner was Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani.

He won for his NLCS performance in which he started on the mound and struck out 10 Milwaukee Brewers while also blasting three home runs at the plate. It has a strong case as the best individual game in the history of baseball.

Tyson was the one who got to read Ohtani's name, and when he opened the envelope, he first said, "Check this out," before doing his best to pronounce it right -- he got close.

That wasn't the most notable thing Tyson said, though.

Paul then announced that Ohtani couldn't be in attendance, and he referred to Ohtani both as "he" and "him" as part of that statement.

To everyone else watching, nothing was unusual about that.

What did Mike Tyson say about Shohei Ohtani?

Tyson, though, turned to Paul and quietly appeared to say (picked up partially by the microphone), "Shohei is a guy?"

It's pretty hard to turn Tyson's words into anything other than that, but you can watch the clip for yourself:

Tyson probably isn't the most avid MLB fan, and he also spent a lot of time in the ring in his life, so we'll give him a pass on this one.

The rest of social media certainly is getting a kick out of it, though.
