Zuby Ejiofor will be one of the keys for how deep a run St. John's can make in March Madness.
Just don't ask Mike Francesca to give you Ejiofor's backstory. He has it just a little bit off.
Ejiofor began his college career at Kansas, and Francesa gets that part right in his latest podcast.
The legendary radio personality doesn't get any of what he says after that correct.
"Remember, he left Kansas, but that's a long time ago, and he left Kansas because of Embiid," Francesca said, referring to Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers. "... It's no big deal that Embiid was over him."
MORE: The math behind a perfect bracket is unfathomable
OK, fact check number one: Embiid last played at Kansas in March of 2014.
Ejiofor was 9 years old then.
Fact check number two: Embiid only played one year at Kansas.
So even if 9-year old Zuby was there, he wouldn't have had to leave to get out from behind Embiid on the depth chart. Embiid went straight to the league.
It's hard to exaggerate just how painful a whiff this is.
It obviously doesn't impact Ejiofor's chances in this year's NCAA Tournament. The talented big fella putting up 16.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.1 blocks and 1.2 steals per game is one of the best players in the country.
At this point, Bill Self surely would love if he was still with the Jayhawks. But not as an Embiid replacement, because that doesn't make any sense.
