Michigan is working hard to surround quarterback Bryce Underwood with as many downfield threats as possible, and they seemingly have their eyes on a four-star wide receiver. Travis Johnson, a 6-foot-3 receiver from Virginia, is being heavily pursued by Penn State, South Carolina, Indiana, and Michigan, among other schools.
On3 ranks Johnson as the 144th-best recruit and the 21st-best wide receiver. While Penn State took the early lead in the race for his services, Johnson is starting to lean heavily towards Michigan thanks to four great visits.
"This was my fourth visit to Michigan, and every time, it gets better and better," Johnson told On3. "What makes it better each time is that every time I visit, it feels like an official visit. They have been showing love since day one."
Johnson had 21 receptions, 490 receiving yards, and five touchdowns during the 2024-25 season.
The Wolverines still have some ground to make up in the recruiting race, as their only other wide receiver recruit for the 2026 class is three-star Jaylen Pile. It has been an adjustment since the coaching changes in Ann Arbor, but they are now starting to make up ground with some of the other recruits.
They have also been linked to some of the other top recruits in CJ Sadler, Jerquaden Guilford, and Zion Robinson.
