Less than a week ago, Miami quarterback Carson Beck entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal, leaving many in shock. Just weeks earlier, Beck had announced his plans to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. It was later revealed that Beck never signed with an agent, leaving the door open for a possible return to college football.
Beck's decision to enter the portal came after an elbow injury he sustained during the SEC Championship, which is a long-term issue. However, instead of consulting team doctors, Beck sought medical opinions from specialists in Texas and California. This reportedly led to a significant dispute between Beck and Georgia, causing tension within the program and frustrating former teammates.
Despite the rumors, the first team to contact Beck after he entered the portal was none other than Georgia, according to Matt Hayes. Head coach Kirby Smart quickly reached out to his former quarterback, attempting to bring him back to Athens. This makes sense, as Beck had been the Bulldogs' starting quarterback for the past two seasons.
Another surprising team that reached out to Beck was Alabama, one of the most prestigious programs of the past 25 years. With quarterback Jalen Milroe expected to enter the NFL Draft, the Crimson Tide was actively pursuing an experienced signal-caller. After all, Beck had put on an impressive performance against Alabama earlier in the season, throwing for 439 yards and three touchdowns in their regular-season matchup.
The swift interest from both Georgia and Alabama suggests that Beck likely had a good idea of where he wanted to go.
Now, Beck has turned his focus to Miami, where he has already attended team meetings and got to know future teammates. As of now, it is believed that the senior quarterback will be fully healthy in time for fall camp.
