After moving on from Tyreek Hill, the Miami Dolphins have a question to answer at the receiver position next to Jaylen Waddle. While the Dolphins aren’t expected to be a great team next season, they’re in a good spot draft-wise and could take a receiver, though it likely wouldn’t be the best idea.
Despite that, Mark Morales-Smith of Sports Illustrated believes Makai Lemon could be the answer.
Morales-Smith recently linked Lemon to Miami as a potential fit if the team decides to go that route.
“Tyreek Hill has been cut by the Dolphins, and Miami could use a wide receiver to pair with Jaylen Waddle. Lemon is my second-ranked wide receiver in this class, and would immediately get the Dolphins back in the conversation of having one of the best wide receiver duos in the league.
“We don't know who the quarterback is going to be in Miami, but loading up the offense with great wide receivers will certainly make his life easier. However, if new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan decides to run the team in a similar fashion to how the Green Bay Packers were run, a first-round wide receiver could be off the table,” he wrote.
Lemon is widely viewed as one of the better players in the draft, and perhaps the best at his position. Pairing him with Waddle would give the Dolphins two elite players who can make big plays.
In my opinion, the Dolphins have too many other needs to take a receiver this early in the draft.
