The New York Mets' newest pitcher is named Richard Lovelady.
He told reporters on Monday that he'd rather go by a different name.
According to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo, Lovelady is requesting that his teammates, fans and those around him call him "Dicky."
Baseball's records will keep Lovelady's name as Richard, but he's going with one of the nicknames for his official name from now on.
Lovelady is a 29-year old pitcher from Georgia. He was a 10th-round pick by the Royals in 2016 out of Kennesaw State.
Lovelady has appeared in MLB games in six different seasons, with outings for the Royals, Rays, Athletics, Cubs and Blue Jays, all as a reliever.

The lefty has a career 5.26 MLB ERA.
He made two 2025 appearances for the Blue Jays and had a 21.60 ERA.
Lovelady was most recently in the Twins' organization at Triple-A, but he opted out of his contract to pursue the MLB opportunity with the Mets.
New York has cycled through a lot of relievers this season, so Lovelady may not stick around long.
But as long as he's with the Mets, he wants to be called Dicky Lovelady. So that's something.
