While the Los Angeles Lakers weren’t involved in Kevin Durant’s blockbuster trade to the Houston Rockets, they could benefit from its aftermath.
Lake Show Life’s Svyatoslav tossed around the idea of the Lakers acquiring Durant’s ex-Phoenix Suns teammate, who’s earned four All-Star selections.
“The pipe dream for the Lakers would be to somehow have Devin Booker donning purple and gold,” Rovenchuk wrote Sunday. "However, there are a number of reasons as to why this remains unlikely, for now.”
“To this point, all the reports that have come out of Phoenix suggest the Suns wanting to retool around Booker. It is fair to question that strategy, but it remains the case nonetheless.”
“The Lakers pushing for a Booker move while LeBron James is still around, and expected to be on the books at max money, would limit them financially anyways. Three-star builds have quickly fallen out of favor.”
“Booker would complement Luka Doncic extremely well. However, that one would be saved for the future, if it happens at all.”

After finishing 10 games below .500 and failing to participate in the 2025 postseason festivities, it was only a matter of time before the Suns parted ways with either Durant or Booker.
With Durant preparing to turn 37 and having less time remaining in the big leagues, choosing to include him in the second blockbuster trade of the summer was the most logical decision.
However, that doesn’t mean Booker is a lock to remain with the Suns following the massive deal.
If Phoenix wants to move closer to disbanding its super team entirely (Bradley Beal would be the only member of the trio left), the Lakers could swoop in and dangle a compelling trade package (likely headlined by Austin Reaves) for the 6-foot-6 guard in front of the Suns.
That said, there’s a good chance the Suns will keep Booker in the loop and move forward with their current roster.
