Here we go again.
Second baseman Marcus Semien arrived at the New York Mets spring training camp on Saturday with a Texas Rangers bag. Semien was acquired from the Rangers in November in exchange for outfielder Brandon Nimmo.

— SNY Mets (@SNY_Mets) February 14, 2026Mets fans took to social media to voice their confusion earlier this week after reliever Luke Weaver arrived at camp with a New York Yankees bag. The right-hander signed a two-year, $22 million contract with the NL East club in December after spending parts of three seasons in the Bronx.
An easy fix for Semien
Obviously, Semien is no longer on the Rangers' roster and will receive a new bag with a Mets logo in the coming days.
“I thought it was a bit silly, personally,” Weaver said on “The Show” podcast with The New York Post’s Jon Heyman and Joel Sherman. “I understand why people are — I wouldn’t say an uproar, but why they’re talking about it. I get it. To your point, it’s very common to bring your old bag to your new team. They don’t first-class airmail a new bag, so I didn’t get a new bag from the Mets, like a duffle bag."
Expect all of the old bag drama to fade away relatively quickly.
