Conservative podcaster Megyn Kelly reacted after Zohran Mamdani appointed Lillian Bonsignore as the FDNY’s first openly gay commissioner. On Tuesday, the NYC mayor-elect announced that Bonsignore would be the commissioner of New York City's Fire Department. This would make her the first openly gay person to hold this position.
According to CBS News, Lillian Bonsignore previously worked with the department and retired three years ago. She is set to assume the charge after Mamdani takes office on January 1.
Megyn Kelly, who has remained a vocal critic of Zohran Mamdani, reacted to the new appointment. On Friday, an X user shared a clip of Mamdani's announcement. Kelly quote-tweeted the post and wrote:
"Here we go again."Zohran Mamdani made the appointment announcement in a press conference on Tuesday. The new mayor-elect mentioned that Bonsignore had earlier worked as the FDNY's chief of EMS operations and "understands every detail" of her work. He
"Her record speaks for itself. 31 years of service. The former FDNY chief of EMS operations, leadership on the front lines of 9/11 and the COVID pandemic... She responded swiftly to the terror attacks on 9/11 from right here, joining a convoy of EMS members to the World Trade Center... I am proud that Lillian will make history, too, as the first openly gay person to head up the department," Zohran Mamdani said.Megyn Kelly raised concerns following Zohran Mamdani's victory
“The Republican party needs to get their sh*t together ASAP…” @MegynKelly unloads on the Republicans and the Democrats over Mamdani victory and VA and NJ races.
Following Mamdani's victory, Megyn Kelly slammed the Democratic mayor-elect in the November 5 episode of her podcast. She also lashed out at the Republican leaders for losing the election. Kelly questioned Mamdani's pro-trans stance and commented:
"We spent so much time on the socialism and his radical Islamist ties. We didn't even really spend a lot of time on the fact that he's budgeting, he said, $65 million to trans, anyone who wants it from in-state or out of state, minor or adult, on the taxpayer dime. He basically wants New York to be a sanctuary for trans children."In his victory speech, Mamdani challenged President Trump and remarked that New York City would remain "the city of immigrants." He also thanked the working class of the city for supporting him. Megyn Kelly, in her podcast, blasted Mamdani and said that the working class didn't vote for him.
"The working class did not vote for you. They know you're a liar. And as I've been saying, a wolf in sheep's clothing. So don't spare me your speech... You're from some rich Ugandan family. You're not even a born American. You only came over here. You have dual citizenship," Kelly said.Later in November, Zohran Mamdani and President Trump were seen together at the White House. The POTUS even joked about Mamdani calling him "fascist" during the press conference. Megyn Kelly reacted to the friendly exchange of the two leaders and was taken aback. She cracked up after watching the clip of their interaction and said:
"What is happening? Yeah, what is happening? MTG is out, and Trump hates her, and she's a traitor. Zohran Mamdani is in, and Trump thinks it's funny to call him a fascist... Who are we?"In addition to Megyn Kelly, Elon Musk also raised eyebrows at Lillian Bonsignore's appointment as the FDNY commissioner. In his December 26 X post, he questioned Bonsignore's groundwork experience and commented that "people will die because of this."
