Meghan Markle for president?
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, made her first-ever podcast appearance on Monday’s episode of “The Jamie Kern Lima Show” and addressed a possible future in politics.
“Would you ever run for office?” Kern Lima, 47, asked Markle.
“No. Never,” Markle quickly replied while shaking her head and laughing.
She then added, “Oh God. I mean, you could say, ‘Never say never.’ No, I’m not interested in that. No.”
Markle, who grew up in Los Angeles, became a member of the British royal family when she married Prince Harry in May 2018. Less than two years later, the couple quit their jobs as working royals and moved to Montecito, Calif., where they now live with their kids Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.
In 2020, Markle made history as the first modern member of the British royal family to vote for president in an American election.
The “Suits” alum confirmed she was voting in the 2020 election three months prior, telling Marie Claire, “I know what it’s like to have a voice, and also what it’s like to feel voiceless. I also know that so many men and women have put their lives on the line for us to be heard. And that opportunity, that fundamental right, is in our ability to exercise our right to vote and to make all of our voices heard.”
On Kern Lima’s podcast, Markle also brought up the possibility of publishing a memoir.
“I think people are often curious if I’m going to write a memoir, but I’ve got a lot more life to live before I’m there,” she said.
The mom of two wrote her own children’s book, “The Bench,” that became a New York Time’s Best Seller in 2021.
When asked if she’d write another book, Markle said, “Yes, maybe, for sure.”
“I love, right now, working on everything in this space of hospitality and home and entertaining and food and those sort of tips and something like that I think could be really fun. Of course, children’s books are great,” she added.
Markle went make-up free for the podcast interview, where she talked about her As Ever lifestyle brand, motherhood, her marriage to Harry, and more.
