Megan Thee Stallion has added a new member to her household after rescuing a dog that had been scheduled to be euthanized at a shelter.

The rapper introduced the dog, named Tyger, in a video posted to Instagram on March 27, explaining that she recently learned about kill shelters and immediately decided to step in. “I’ve rescued a dog,” Megan said in the clip. “Because I was yesterday years old when I found out that there’s such a thing as a kill shelter, and they are putting down dogs when they cannot find them a home.”

According to Megan, Tyger was supposed to be euthanized the day before she found him. Instead, she brought him home. “That is insane, they were going to put him down yesterday,” she said. “And I said, ‘No wait. Just give him to me. I’ll take him.’”

The video showed the dog curled against Megan’s neck while she held him close and introduced him to followers as the newest addition to her family. “Aww, my new son,” she said before kissing the dog. “He’s so happy.”

Tyger is joining a growing group of pets already living with Megan, including her French bulldog 4oe—better known as Foe—along with Foe’s three puppies and her Maine Coon cat, Nine. Megan admitted she is still figuring out how the transition will go once everyone is under the same roof.

“I don’t know how Foe is going to feel about this,” she said in the video. “I don’t know how Foe kids is going to feel about this.”

Even so, Megan sounded optimistic about the latest addition. “So yeah, we’re gonna see how Tyger does tonight,” she said. “I don’t know what kind of dog this is but he my son.”

The rescue comes during an especially busy stretch for Megan Thee Stallion. The rapper is currently making her Broadway debut in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, where she is playing the role of Zidler for a limited run. The appearance marked another expansion of her career after a year that has included new music, business ventures, and a more public look at her personal life.

In recent months, Megan has also spoken about feeling more settled offstage. She recently described her relationship with Klay Thompson as the first time she has felt “overly comfortable,” crediting therapy and self-growth for helping her get there.
