Dallas Stars goalie Casey DeSmith sent a message to Pittsburgh Penguins fans before Saturday's game at PPG Paints Arena.
DeSmith, 34, spoke about the good memories he has in Pittsburgh after playing with the Penguins between 2017 and 2023.
“Definitely a lot of fun memories here. Obviously, I’ve been in the West ever since, so I don’t get to come back here very often, so definitely special when I get to,” he said on Friday after the morning practice.
“We lived up here, so a lot of our favorite restaurants are pretty far north, and we’re staying downtown. So, probably just stay at our hotel,” he said when asked if he had any plans for Saturday, taking advantage of visiting the city.

Against the New York Islanders on Thursday, Jake Oettinger was the goalie chosen by head coach Glen Gulutzan. Although he is aware that he might not play, DeSmith did not hide that it would be very special for him to play in Pittsburgh again.
“Is exciting. I’ve yet to play here, kind of like a return game. So, it’s not tomorrow, maybe next year. But obviously, just fun to be in the environment, same building, fans, all that stuff.”
About the moment Dallas is going through, DeSmith did not want to delve too much into the topic and limited himself to saying that:
“We are trying to fight our way out, and the only way to get out is by competing. So, just keep on doing that (…) Every team goes through it. Nobody’s happy about losing, and obviously, maybe the vibes aren’t as high, but, you know, you’ve got to keep them somewhat high to get out of it,” he explained.
“You can’t just go to a miserable land and expect to fight your way out of it. So, just stay positive, keep working (…) Nobody’s panicking right now.”
