Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson returned to the Bay Area on Thursday to face his former team, the Golden State Warriors. After much hype, Thompson had an underwhelming Christmas Day performance while his girlfriend, Megan Thee Stallion, watched courtside. The four-time champ came off the bench to contribute seven points, two rebounds and two assists.

Klay Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion softly launched their relationship on Instagram in July. The two made it official when they debuted as a couple during the artist’s Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in the same month. She often watches Mavericks games to cheer for the five-time All-Star.
Thompson’s performance did not live up to the hype, though. He didn’t see action until 5:51 left in the first quarter. The home fans gave him a warm welcome when he came in to relieve P.J. Washington.
The legendary Warrior had two points and one assist in the first quarter before starting on the bench again to open the second period. He re-entered the game with 4:36 to go as Naji Marshall’s replacement. Thompson did not even finish the period after Mavericks coach Jason Kidd took him off for Caleb Martin late in the frame.
Klay Thompson’s best moment came with 3:14 remaining in the third quarter. He drilled a smooth 26-footer to cut the Warriors’ lead to 94-83.
Fans trolled him for his performance while his girlfriend sat at courtside.
Steve Kerr says he will never get used to Klay Thompson playing for another team
Klay Thompson has played against the Golden State Warriors on multiple occasions. Thompson’s appearance on Thursday was his fifth against his former team. Still, Steve Kerr is taken aback by Thompson in a different jersey.
When asked if he has gotten used to Thompson as an opponent, Kerr responded:
“I’ll never get used to seeing Klay on the other side. I miss Klay. Wish he was still here.”Thompson played his first 13 seasons in the NBA with the Warriors. His era in San Francisco ended in the summer of 2024 when the Dubs sent him to Dallas in a massive six-team trade. Golden State received Kyle Anderson and Buddy Hield in that deal.
Although now with the Mavs, Klay Thompson remains beloved among Warriors fans.
