Meet Jim Irsay's daughters: What to know about future of Colts ownership after sudden death

3 hours ago 1

The sudden passing of longtime Colts owner Jim Irsay has sent shockwaves throughout the sports world.

Irsay died at 65, leaving behind a legacy of over 40 years working with the Colts organization. He became the franchise's owner at 37 years old, succeeding his father, Robert, who died in 1997.

28 years later, Jim Irsay's death places the franchise in a similar position, with ownership of the franchise being transferred to Irsay's daughters. The transition should be relatively organic, as each daughter has had a role with the franchise for over a decade.

Jim Irsay's daughters

Irsay has three daughters: Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt, and Kalen Jackson. Irsay-Gordon "will primarily take charge of the football side of the franchise after years spent preparing to take over for her father," according to the Indianapolis Star.

In 2012, Irsay's three daughters were announced as co-owners of the franchise, and they have long represented the Colts at NFL ownership meetings.

Here is more on each of his children.

Carlie Irsay-Gordon

Irsay-Gordon, 44, is the oldest of Jim Irsay's daughters. She began her career in the Colts' football and marketing departments. Since 2004, she has represented the franchise at ownership meetings.

She was made a vice president of the organization in 2008. Irsay-Gordon has also held a role working with a group that oversees the operations of the NFL Network and NFL.com.
