The Philadelphia Eagles are fresh off a huge Super Bowl LIX win over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. And, the Eagles might not be going anywhere soon with a nucleus on offense that includes quarterback Jalen Hurts, running back Saquon Barkley and wide receiver AJ Brown.
Hurts was a key part during the Super Bowl run, and he has quickly become a topic of conversation when discussing the best quarterbacks in the league.
However, not everybody is all the way on the Hurts train.
On Thursday, Colin Cowherd and Chris Simms discussed a ranking list by Pro Football Focus, but Simms surprisingly ranked Houston Texans QB CJ Stroud ahead of Hurts.
"I would put CJ Stroud in front of Jalen Hurts. We have a little bit of revisionist history here. He won the Super Bowl and everybody just forgot about the 10 weeks before that, that we were like, the passing game and quarterback were the issue...How can now you be one of the best quarterbacks in the game? I think I would have CJ Stroud in his place in that tier."
The Tier Two section was Hurts, Jayden Daniels, Matthew Stafford and Justin Herbert with Stroud down in Tier 3b and at No. 14 overall.
During the regular season, Hurts threw for 2,903 yards with 18 touchdowns and five interceptions. That was 900 yards fewer than in 2023, although the Eagles relied more on the running game with Barkley in town.
Stroud, meanwhile, threw 12 interceptions in 2024 in a bit of a down sophomore campaign, but Simms still wants to put Stroud ahead of Hurts and the rest of the Tier Two QBs.
Again, it's the offseason, and ranking lists are fu to dissect, but this is quite a take from Simms.
