In a crowded sports-podcast landscape, Max Kellerman and Rich Paul’s new show, Game Over, has quickly gained traction. The duo has been generating buzz with a steady stream of bold takes, most recently reigniting the Michael Jordan-LeBron James GOAT debate with a heated exchange on Monday.

The back and forth was ignited after Kellerman declared Michael Jordan as the GOAT while labelling LeBron as the "decisive" number two.

"You and I debate MJ, LeBron, MJ to me number one," Kellerman said. "I think LeBron is decisively number two. Obviously, you feel differently."

Paul, who also serves as LeBron James’ agent, pushed back on Kellerman’s take and instead offered an analogy that placed both players on the same pedestal within the GOAT conversation.

"When I was a kid, right? I had a ton of trophies," Paul said. "And I would get my trophies and I would put them up and I would get another trophy, and would put it there, I never took a trophy down." "So we talk about replace, it's like, no. Michael Jordan's up there. If someone else comes along, and they go on the same shelf as Michael Jordan. Which is, i.e., LeBron," Paul continued.

The sports agent also suggested that Kobe Bryant and Stephen Curry belong on the same “shelf” as Jordan, a claim that Kellerman firmly rejected.

"You think Steph Curry is on the same shelf as Michael Jordan?" Kellerman remarked. "They are not on the same shelf."

The discussion escalated further as Paul pushed back on Kellerman’s dismissal, causing the debate to boil over.

"There are different trophies, man. If Michael Jordan's trophy is 7 feet tall and Steph Curry's trophy is 5 feet tall, they're on the same shelf," Paul added.

Max Kellerman suggests Victor Wembanyama could reshape the GOAT debate, with LeBron James closest so far

The NBA’s GOAT debate remains one of the most frequently discussed topics in basketball, with Michael Jordan widely regarded as the greatest player of all time.

The GOAT debate resurfaced on Game Over on Monday, as Max Kellerman suggested Victor Wembanyama could one day reshape the discussion. While claiming LeBron James remains the closest challenger to Michael Jordan so far.

"Every now and then, a guy comes along, and you go, 'Can he replace MJ one day?' Kellerman said. " I haven't seen that happen yet. I think LeBron's come closest." "But Wemby is the new guy who I look at and I go, I just wonder, 'Can he be known as the best player ever one day if he stays healthy?"

While Wembanyama has the potential to become an all-time great, he still has much to prove in his career before entering that discussion.
