The Dallas Mavericks are a year removed from an NBA Finals appearance and are looking like that same team in recent weeks.
The Mavericks are the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference with a record of 19-10. Still, entertaining a blockbuster trade at February's deadline isn't out of the question. Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler named Dallas as one of his preferred destinations, so it would be foolish for the Mavs' front office to not at least check in with Pat Riley and company.
If a deal is worked out for Butler, the $146 million star, to land in Dallas, FanSided predicted it to look as follows:
Mavericks receive: Jimmy Butler, Josh Richardson
Heat receive: P.J. Washington, Maxi Kleber, Naji Marshall, Daniel Gafford, and a 2025 first-round pick
This deal forms one of the NBA's most polarizing Big Threes with Butler, Luka Doncic, and Kyrie Irving. The hope was former Golden State Warrior Klay Thompson could complete the trio, but he was simply does not have that much left in the tank. Still, he's a solid addition, averaging 14.4 points on 39.1% shooting from three-point range.
For the Heat, this return is far from appetizing. None of the previously mentioned Mavs players can greatly alter Miami's roster or hold little odds of evolving into a star. This would be more of a desperation move right before the deadline so the Heat don't lose Butler for nothing in free agency.
The Heat should first entertain packages from the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets.
