Matt Cardona pens a heartfelt message following Chelsea Green's historic win on WWE SmackDown

Chelsea Green conquered the women's division on WWE SmackDown and made history for the second time under Triple H's creative regime. After the show, Green's real-life husband, Matt Cardona, penned a heartfelt message for the champion.

A while back, The Green Regime gained more power in the Stamford-based promotion when Ethan Page aligned with the group in Piper Niven's absence. The two went on to capture the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship, and Green later got a title shot against Giulia.

On the blue brand's recent edition, the 34-year-old SmackDown star dethroned The Beautiful Madness and won the Women's United States Championship in around a minute and thirty-five seconds. Later, the newly crowned champion's real-life husband, Matt Cardona, penned a heartfelt message and celebrated his wife's historic win.

"When wrestlers ask me for advice, I say don’t quit…that’s it. You might make it if you don’t. You definitely won’t make it if you do. @ImChelseaGreen is proof of that. A career of highs and lows…didn’t complain…did the work…did the extra work…was Alwayz Ready! (she’ll hate that I said the part) I’m very proud of you babe…I love you," Cardona tweeted on X.

How did Chelsea Green make history on WWE SmackDown?

Last year, Chelsea Green reached the top of the women's division for the first time when she became the inaugural WWE Women's United States Champion in November 2024. Unfortunately, her reign as the inaugural champion ended sooner than expected following WrestleMania 41 in Nevada.

In the coming months, Green focused on building her regime and gaining momentum on the developmental brand and on WWE's main roster. With Green's win over Giulia, The Hot Mess became the first female wrestler to hold the belt twice.

The 34-year-old performer is now a double champion alongside Ethan Page and ruling two divisions across two different promotions. It'll be interesting to see what's next for the duo in the coming weeks.
