Massive setback for WWE ahead of one-year anniversary of RAW on Netflix

WWE is gearing up for the new year's first episode of Monday Night RAW. The January 5 edition of the red brand will also mark the one-year anniversary of the show on Netflix.

However, the Stamford-based promotion has suffered a massive setback heading into 2026. Over the last few weeks, Monday Night RAW had been finding it difficult to enter the top ten of Netflix's global rankings, largely because all five seasons of Stranger Things occupied five places on the list.

Unfortunately, things went from bad to worse for the global juggernaut, as the December 22 edition of RAW not only failed to enter Netflix's global Top 10, but it also could not do so on the United States charts for the very first time. The episode being pre-taped might have played a part in the unprecedented oust from the US charts. Tom Segura's new special, Teacher, and The Closer's Season 1 were the new entrants into the US Top 10 this week.

For comparison, Fireplace for Your Home: Crackling Birchwood Fireplace, the show at number 10 globally, had a viewership of 3.2 million, which is slightly higher in comparison to RAW's recent average views of close to 3 million.

WWE has scheduled three championship matches for the first RAW of 2026

Three championships will be on the line on the upcoming edition of Monday Night RAW.

Becky Lynch will get her rematch against Maxxine Dupri, and the two archrivals will compete for the WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship currently held by the Alpha Academy member. Elsewhere on the card, IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley will join forces to challenge The Kabuki Warriors for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship.

In arguably the most anticipated match of the night, CM Punk will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Bron Breakker. It will be The Second City Saint's first televised defense since he won the title vacated by Seth Rollins last month at Saturday Night's Main Event.

Only time will tell how many titles change hands on January 5.
